Upon your arrival in Urumqi - the capital city of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, your professional tour guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to a well selected downtown hotel by a comfortable vehicle. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city, or you could just rest at the hotel to get acclimated.

Your Xinjiang tour will start today! We will set off to Sayram Lake, with a long drive of about 6 hours，which is also called the last tear drop of the Atlantic Ocean, for it is the last area where the warm and humid Atlantic air flow could reach. With an altitude of 2073 meters (6801 feet) and covering an area of 458 square km (177 square miles), the Sayram Lake is the highest and largest alpine lake in Xinjiang. The scenic area integrates various natural ecological landscapes like the grassland, wetland, forest and snow mountains. Walk around the lake to enjoy the picturesque scenery with the snow mountain in the distance reflecting in the crystal clear water.

This morning, you will visit the Lavender Garden in Huocheng, which is the third largest lavender planting base in the world. The largest one is in Provence of France and the second largest is in Furano of Japan. The best lavender florescence is in May and June every year. Also there is a second florescence in September and October. You should not miss the beautiful scenery here. Take out your camera and record the lovely moment for yourself. Then, we will drive to Yining in about one hour. Your guide will help you check into the hotel. You will visit the Kazaqi ethnic group area to have a better understanding on the folk customs of the Uygur people. In the dusk, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Yili River Bridge at sunset.

Today, we will drive about 3.5 hours to the Nalati National Forest Park, which is a famous tourist resort in Xinjiang combining the fascinating grassland landscape with the unique folk customs of the Kazakhs. The best time to visit Nalati is from June to October, when the grassland is carpeted with various colorful flowers and there are herds of cattle and sheep wandering on it. Please remember to take a light coat with you, as there is a great temperature difference between day and night. The main sites here include the Summer Pasture - also known as the Sky Grassland, Wangtian Caves and Kezilaxia Waterfall. You could also experience a horse riding on the boundless stretch of the grassland. Stay one night in a local hotel.

After breakfast, we will drive about 4.5 hours to Khorgos, the border between China and Kazakhstan, which is the biggest comprehensive port in Xinjiang. Visit the Khorgos Frontier International Cooperation Center - the first cross-border free trade zone in the world. You could also have some time to visit the duty-free shops here. Stay one night in Khorgos.

The 5-hour private transfer will take you to Kuitun today. Upon arrival, your guide will help you check in at the hotel. Then visit the Dushanzi Grand Canyon. It is said that after the Kuitun River rushed out of the Tianshan Mountain, it cut the inclined plain in the southwest of Dushanzi, thus the canyon is formed. There are steep cliffs around the canyon. You will be amazed when seeing such magnificent masterpiece of nature.

Today, you will get back to Urumqi with a 3.5-hour's drive. After settling down at the hotel, you will head to visit the Heavenly Lake, nestled in the halfway of the northern side of the Bogda Peak. The lake is surrounded by the Snow Mountains and in the shape of a half moon. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery in peace. Then we will transfer you back to the downtown area and visit the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, which is the largest bazaar in the world. Visit the various shops in the bazaar with Uyghur snacks, garments, potteries, jades, nuts, fruits and other handicrafts. When the tour ends, we will drive you back to the hotel.
