8:00 - 9:00 Hotel Pick-up and Transfer to Xi’an City Wall

At the appointed time this morning, your guide will punctually show up at the lobby of your self-booked hotel in downtown Beijing and offer you the most cordial greetings. To ensure our smooth journey today, the guide will confirm with you the exact pick-up time via email, WhatsApp, or WeChat the day before. Also, we would like to appreciate your understanding of the possible earlier pick-up time during popular Chinese holidays to avoid getting stuck in crowds and traffic jams. Feel free to contact us if you have any puzzle.

► Sweet Little Hint:

Today’s itinerary involves a lot of walking, so it is recommended that you wear a pair of comfortable and lightweight sports shoes. Besides, since there is almost no cover in the scenic spots, be sure to apply enough sunscreen and have a sunhat and sunglasses ready.

9:00 - 10:30 City Wall Sightseeing

Climbing onto the Xi’an City Wall, you can’t help but pay tribute to this tridimensional military defense masterpiece built over 600 years ago, with barbicans, gate towers, ramparts, and other sophisticated designs. Look down from any gate, and you’ll be surprised to know that one still had to pass through a barbican to enter the city after the gate. In ancient times, if the comers were enemies, the soldiers on the city wall would throw stones and release arrows into the barbican, trapping and annihilating them completely. Walk forward and notice the ramparts, with crenels for soldiers to observe the enemy and carry out precise strikes, protruding every 120 meters (394 feet). Surprisingly, the distance is right the effective range of bows and arrows. Here, you’ll also have a chance to see citizens practicing Tai Chi and singing local opera at the foot of the City Wall, continuing the long-standing cultural traditions of the city. Bicycle sightseeing on the Wall is also possible, and if you are interested, your guide will be happy to help you rent one at your own expense.

10:30 - 12:00 Admire Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

Next, let’s move to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a square cone-shaped shrine built in the 7th century AD to store Buddhist scripture, Buddha statues, and sariras brought back from India by a famous Chinese hierarch, Xuanzang. It was originally built with five floors, and about 50 years later, when the country was growing stronger and the imperial belief in Buddhism reached a new height, it was greatly expanded to 10 floors. After being damaged by wars and earthquakes in the following years, it was eventually reduced to seven floors seen today, which precisely confirms a Buddhist proverb praising merit and virtue - ‘Saving a life is better than building a 7-story pagoda’. Moreover, from your guide, you can also learn that its site selection is very meticulous. The ideal Chinese geomantic layout of ‘backed by mountains and facing water’ is conducive to absorbing the essence of heaven and earth, which carries the wish of promoting the prosperity and development of Buddhist culture while also praying for national peace and prosperity.

12:00 - 13:00 Drive to Terracotta Army

Next, your guide will accompany you on a comfortable ride along the highway for about an hour to the Terracotta Army Museum, the largest ancient military museum in China built on the original site of the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210 BC), the first emperor who made China a unified country 2,000 years ago. On the way, the guide will give you a fascinating explanation about the historical background of this ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’.

13:00 - 14:00 Buffet Lunch

Upon arrival, accompanied by your guide, first have a Chinese buffet lunch to fuel up for the afternoon’s sightseeing. The most representative local delicacies of Xi’an, such as Cold Noodles and Chinese Hamburger, various stir-fried dishes, soft drinks, and seasonal fruit, are available there.

14:00 - 17:00 Visit Terracotta Army Museum

After that, start your 2.5- to 3-hour exploration of the Terracotta Army’s three main burial pits, which account for less than one percent of the entire mausoleum.

In Pit No.1, marvel at the rectangular military formation composed of over 6,000 terracotta warriors and horses. Modeled after members of the real army at that time, these statues, with an average height of 1.8 meters (6 feet), are carefully selected strongmen. Look closely, and you’ll find that some of them are as young as teenagers, while some have beards and wrinkles on their faces, which is consistent with the documented data that men began military service at 17 and were exempted at 56 during the reign of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. When you get to the Pit No.2, which is designed in a curved battle phalanx, focus your attention mainly on those 470 life-sized terracotta horses. The exquisitely carved bridles on their heads and saddles on their bodies further demonstrate the superb craftsmanship of ancient artisans. A delicate wooden chariot in Pit No. 3 will amaze you a lot. Four horses ride in front of this two-wheeled single-shaft carriage and four soldiers stand around it, and experts speculated that it was most likely the one used to convey the commander's orders to the whole army. In the Exhibition Hall, let’s dig into stories behind more than 200 undisclosed items excavated since 1974, such as a green-faced head, bronze waterfowls, and acrobatic figurines. All these relics are not only a microcosm of the powerful and invincible defense forces of the empire in the 3rd century BC, but also a testament to the glorious achievements of Emperor Qin Shi Huang in unifying the states.

► Note:

Based on our rich experience, the morning light is the best and is more favorable to your visit to the Terracotta Army Museum, which uses a transparent roof to introduce natural light to illuminate those artworks. Coupled with considering the possible traffic congestion and heavy crowds caused by the high popularity of this world heritage site, we sometimes adjust the visiting order of today’s itinerary, moving the visit to the terracotta warriors to the morning.

17:00 - 18:00 Drive Back to Downtown

The guide and driver will escort you back to the downtown area in one hour. You could either take a nap to regain your energy or share your visiting experiences with your fellow travelers on the way.

18:00 Muslim Quarter or Hotel Drop-off

As we continue to drive to the Muslim Quarter in the city center, Xi’an’s most vibrant food paradise, you can opt to get off here to freely enjoy dinner or the surrounding night views to your own preference, and then return to the hotel by yourself. Your guide will be sure to give you suggestions for touring and transportation. For guests having no interest in this venue, we will escort you back to your hotel. That’s all for your budget mini group Xi’an day tour. Hope you had a great time with us!

● If you still have extra time to visit other hot spots in Xi’an, such as Mt. Huashan, one of the Five Sacred Mountains in China, you can consider our other small group day tours and ask our travel consultants for recommendations at any time.

► FYI: What Can You Enjoy in Muslim Quarter (at your own expense):

As soon as you step into this community with intricate streets, your senses will be instantly activated - diverse antique neon-lit signboards come into your view, barbecue aroma mixed with smoke rushes into your nostrils, and hawking in local dialect of enthusiastic vendors fills your ears. Have a bowl of local chewy and belt-wide Biang Biang Noodles with chili oil sauce as a staple for your dinner at a time-honored restaurant, and then stop at some stalls to taste other specialty snacks like sweet and soft Rice and Jujube Cake or Persimmon Cake. It’s better to order a small amount each time so that you can try more varieties, as the local food is high in carbs and calories. After dark, walk a few steps to the nearby illuminated Bell and Drum Towers, Xi’an’s old landmarks, and get an internet-famous angle to frame them with you. The continuous stream of visitors dressed in ancient costumes here will also leave you in admiration.

The car is brand new. V rented it for two days: one day for a 10-hour tour in Hong Kong, and one day to take us to Shenzhen to visit and then return us to Hong Kong later that evening. NOT BAD.

For our 25th anniversary, my wife and I booked this Sichuan loop. Our guide Wang picked us up with hot tea, small start to a big adventure. Wolong's pandas were incredible, but the real magic began climbing toward Mount Siguniang. Snow peaks, empty valleys, Wang knowing every photo spot. At 4,700 meters near Litang, my wife felt dizzy. Wang had oxygen ready, made us rest. "No rush," he said. Twenty minutes later, we were walking among yaks on the roof of the world. Yading was worth every bumpy mile. Three holy mountains, turquoise lakes, prayer flags in the wind. Eight days, four thousand meters, one unforgettable anniversary.

I booked this 10-day trip for my parents' 30th anniversary. Dad's 62, mom's not a strong traveler, I was nervous. But Wandrift made everything smooth. our guide Tenzin met us at Lijiang airport with a warm smile and white hada scarves. First few days were gentle wandering Old Town, watching Naxi musicians perform. Mom loved the slow pace. Then came the drive to Shangri-La. Winding ountain roads. Mom started looking pale halfway through. Tenzin noticed immediately. He had the driver pull over at a scenic spot, gave mom some local herbal balm, and let her rest for 20 minutes. "No rush," he said. "The mountains will wait." That small kindness changed everything. We made it to Shangri-La. Mom recovered at the hotel while Tenzin took dad and me to visit a local family. Drank butter tea, learned about their daily life. Next day at Songzanlin Monastery, mom was back to her usual self, snapping photos and asking questions. Other highlights: hiking through Pudacuo's meadows, spotting yaks for the first time, the prayer flags fluttering in the wind. But what I'll remember most is that moment on the mountain road~a guide who cared more about my mom's comfort than keeping schedule. For anyone traveling with older parents in Yunnan, this tour is it.

My friend and I booked this 5days trip for a quick getaway. Zhangjiajie's sandstone pillars looked like something from another planet. Our guide Liu timed the Bailong Elevator perfectly, no lines, just mist rising around us like entering Pandora. At Tianmen Mountain, I froze at the glass walkway. My friend had to drag me across while Liu pretended not to watch. Furong Ancient Town surprised us. The waterfall flowing right through town at night, lights reflecting on water, we just sat there with noodles, saying nothing. Fenghuang felt like stepping back in time. Liu arranged a boat ride at dusk. Our rower sang local songs, lights coming on along the stilted houses. Magic. For a short China trip hitting big sights, this works perfectly.

Shanghai Disneyland was pure joy. Less crowded than expected, rides fantastic, and the castle stunning. Even as an adult, I felt like a kid again.

This hotel was such a nice upgrade on my trip through Xinjiang, Gansu and Ningxia. I was really surprised—China’s desert hotels are just as good as the ones in Morocco!Too bad we only had 2 days in Ningxia. The place is super nice, and all three of us were blown away. They have stargazing sessions and sand dune activities too.And the price here is even cheaper than on Ctrip. I totally recommend it!

As retirees living in Thailand, we usually prefer slower travel, but this 8-day Chengdu, Chongqing, and Zhangjiajie tour struck the perfect balance. Watching giant pandas at their morning feeding at the world’s largest breeding base was pure magic. Our guide, Helen, knew exactly when to arrive to avoid the crowds, her attention to detail was impeccable throughout. In Chongqing, Helen helped us navigate the dizzying levels of Hongya Cave at dusk; watching it transform into a real-life Spirited Away scene along the Jialing River was unforgettable. She even taught us to use Alipay and DiDi=we felt like locals! The Wulong karst bridges left us speechless. But Zhangjiajie? Surreal. Riding the world's tallest outdoor elevator up into those misty quartz peaks felt like entering Pandora. Helen arranged a morning hike along Gold Whip Streat, just us, bird songs, and towering cliffs. Between cities, we experienced China's high speed rail, smooth, punctual, and hitting 300 km each hours. We also tried food delivery apps and bike-sharing with Helen's guidance. Four modern technologies, one exceptional guide. Deeply grateful.

we booked this 11-day trip for our first China visit. From Beijing's grandeur to Shanghai's skyline, every stop impressed. In Beijing, our guide Lucy took us to the Great Wall early, just us and misty mountains. She knew exactly where to stand for photos without crowds. The Forbidden City felt endless in the best way. Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors left us speechless. Lisa arranged a warrior-making workshop where we both failed hilariously at clay molding. That lopsided soldier now sits on our shelf. zhangjiawei stunned us most. Glass bridge had my husband gripping the railing while I laughed. Our guide Michael noticed my fear of heights and quietly suggested the forest path instead, shanghai's Huangpu cruise at night was pure magic. Different cities, different guides, all wonderful. For couples wanting hassle-free China, this tour delivers.
