Day 1 Entry Beijing

Today your private guide will be waiting for you outside the Arrival Hall of the airport, holding a welcome sign bearing your name. Then, a comfortable private drive will send you to the well-selected hotel. Relax for the remainder of the day to recover from the long flight. If you feel all right, you may go out to get the first impression of the city on your own; we will be glad to give you some advice.

Day 2 Beijing
Catering
Lunch:A la carte welcome lunch

Your private China tour will start from the famous Tiananmen Square - the largest central city square in the world. It is also an assembling place for celebrations and military parades on important days. Then, the guide will lead you to walk to the north end of the square, go through the Tiananmen Tower and then visit the majestic Forbidden City, an imperial palace complex built nearly 600 years ago.

In ancient times, ordinary people were forbiddento enter the royal palace, so it was an honorable and enviable thing to serve in the central government and work in the Forbidden City, but not an easy thing. Those officials should participate in the morning meeting, to report and discuss the major affairs with the emperor. Thus, they could never sleep late, especially in Ming Dynasty (1368 1644 AD) because they needed to get up at 3:00 a.m. or even earlier to get washed and dressed properly, as the morning meeting started at about 5:00. They could not eat breakfast before going to work, for they werent allowed to go to bathroom during the meeting. If the emperor was a workaholic, they must go on working after the meeting until the time to get off every day, and working overtime might become a commonplace.

Now you know how lucky you are as the imperial palace complex has been open to the public as a large museum, from where you get to know the emperors and their royal families' lives, and appreciate traditional Chinese architecture and numerous cultural relics.

Privilege of Our Guests

Our experienced guide, who visits the Forbidden City for over 100 times each year, will show you around inside along the best route, for 2 solid hours at least, so as to cover all the essential palaces. During the visit, he or she will tell some interesting stories you will never hear about elsewhere.

A La Carte Welcome Lunch to Taste Peking Duck and Other Authentic Chinese Food

After, an a la carte welcome lunch (valued at CNY150 per person and included in our price) will be served for you at a fine restaurant popular among locals rather than a touristy restaurant. The chefs there are good at making the representative Beijing dish, Peking Roast Duck and you are highly advised to have a try. You will marvel at the chefs cutting skills as he slices the duck right in front of you.

After lunch, continue the visit to Yonghe Temple, the best preserved lamasery in Beijing. It has a unique architectural style, integrating Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan. Then the Temple of Heaven, where emperors offered sacrifices to the God of Heaven in ancient times. For emperors, offering sacrifices at the Temple of Heaven was the most solemn among all ceremonies, hence it was born a holy place. Nowadays, this former royal temple has been enlarged and also used as a distinctive park by the locals.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte welcome lunch

Day 3 Beijing

Morning excursion will take you to visit Mutianyu Great Wall, which boasts its magnificence and natural views. A round-way cable car ride will be included for easier up and down. As one of the seven wonders in the world, the Great Wall is a tribute to the wisdom and painstaking efforts of the ancient Chinese people. Standing on the wall and viewing it as it winds its way along the mountain ridges will leave you with a long-lasting memory. Comfortable shoes are good support for your Great Wall visit.

In the afternoon, return back to downtown Beijing, with a photo stop at the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) when driving by. Then, head directly to Shichahai. We will specially arrange a rickshaw ride there, for you to experience the life of old Beijingers. Passing by the Hutongs and along the lakefront, it will last for around 40 minutes. After, visit one of the well preserved Siheyuan and have a nice talk with the host to learn the life of present Chinese people. If interested, the guide will then drop you off at the nearby bar street; otherwise, he or she will send you back to your hotel for a good rest.

Dinner Suggestion (at your own expense):

For dinner, you are recommended to dine at Juqi Roast Duck restaurant near the Drum Tower that overlooks the hutong area. If you are looking for authentic Beijing cuisine, dont miss it. Inside, its clean and spacious, with nostalgic hutong culture-related ornaments that would take you back to the 70s or 80s. On stepping inside, you will be greeted by Hello Beijingwritten on a decorative drum, which you can take a picture with. Each dish they serve, whether its Fried Sauce Noodles, Roast Duck, Kung Pao Chicken, or others, is a delicacy for you to savor.

The travel time varies from about 4.5 to 5.5 hours. To save you time, we will try our best to book one with less intermediate stops and shorter duration. You are recommended to bring some fruits or snacks, prepare a book or a movie device in order to spend a happy time on the train. On arrival, our guide and driver in Xi'an will greet you at the station and escort you to the hotel.

Day 5 Xi'an
Catering

This wonderful day will start from the world-renowned Terracotta Army Museum, which houses over nine thousands of terracotta warriors, plus horses, chariots and more, serving as Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 BC - 210 BC)’s burial objects near his enigmatic mausoleum. You will marvel at figures so vivid that rumor has it that they were made of real human beings - of course they were not, but it indeed suggests how incredible the artistic skills of Qin people could be. Be amazed at the facial features and postures that vary from warrior to warrior, as well as the fact that those figures were actually body parts put together after each being molded, polished and carved!

★ Privileges of Our Guests

1. In addition to seeing warriors in burial pits, we will also explore the newly-launched lasting exhibition “Archaeological Discoveries at the Mausoleum Complex of China’s First Emperor”. Showcased here through only glass are 230 most representative discoveries during five decades’ archaeological excavation, and a third were once secrets kept from the world! They are arranged in eight themes, allowing you dig into the mausoleum itself, Qin Shi Huang’s life, Qin culture, and above all, Qin people’s craftsmanship! Observe lifelike sculptures like a bronze swan with elegantly crooked neck, colored lips and clothes, a man no one is certain why he’s touching his feet, tiny metal animals... Our guide is well-prepared to give you a feast for the mind!

2. Out from the museum, pay a visit to home of Mr. Yang Zhifa, the farmer who dug out the first terracotta warrior in 1974, bringing the grand underground army from legend to reality. Talk with Mr. Yang himself if he’s present or his family to learn stories behind the discovery, as well as its impact to Yang himself and the villagers living around.

3. We have also arranged for you a fun 40-minute DIY class to make a mini terracotta figure at a local workshop. You can carve your name or whatever mark on the figure and take it home - a special souvenir we prepared for your Terracotta Army trip.

Then, return to downtown and visit an ancient landmark of Xi’an- Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. It is a square brick pagoda, the biggest of its kind. Although it has gone through more than 1,300 years of vicissitudes, the pagoda looks still elegant and exquisite with its original features. Speaking of it, most Chinese may think of Monk Xuanzang first, as the famous Grand Ci’en Temple where it is situated is one of his sites for translating Buddhist Sutras. Surprisingly, the temple was not actually built for Xuanzang, but by the Tang emperor Li Zhi for her late mother, Empress Wende. Follow our guide to know more backstories.

★ Experience Fun of Wearing Han Chinese Clothing in Great Tang All Day Mall

Today’s last stop will be Great Tang All Day Mall, also named Grand Tang Ever Bright City to the south of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. As the name suggests, it’s a Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) themed block for displaying the architecture, culture and customs back then, vibrant both day and night. The guide will assist you to get dressed in traditional Han Chinese Clothing. Actually, it is the most popular costume among locals and tourists to visit the antique block.

At last, send you back to hotel, or you may get back to the hotel by yourself after staying for a while longer. The hotel we booked for you is not far and the guide will inform you the return way.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast

This morning, we will first head to the City Wall Park, which is a good place to learn about the leisure and entertainment life of Chinese people, especially the elderly. Here, you will have a chance to join in the locals and play Tai Chi, a kind of Chinese Kung Fu which can help build up body and keep peaceful mind. For senior travelers taking a China tour, this offers a great opportunity to compare and contrast the retired lifestyle here with their own.

After experiencing locals’ life, climb up to the ancient City Wall, another historical symbol of this time-honored city. Cycling on the wall is a popular activity and it takes around 2 hours to complete a circle. Giving the case you want to have a try, our guide will assist you to rent a bike on the spot.

A visit to the Great Mosque comes next, together with the bustling Muslim Quarter around. Muslim Quarter is the gathering place of not only Muslims in Xi’an, but also various local snacks. This noon, we will select a noted restaurant there for you to taste some of the best, including hot oil noodles, fried dumplings and Chinese Hamburger.

In the afternoon, you will head to Chengdu by a high speed train, which takes around 4 hours. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel by our local guide and driver.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, featured Xi'an snacks for lunch

Day 7 Chengdu
Catering

The Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding will be a top priority on today’s agenda. The giant pandas there are so lovely with chubby bodies and cute appearance. We make the visit in the morning because they are the liveliest after one night’s rest. You will see them eating their meals and playing together.

After watching the adorable giant pandas, we will head to Xiaojiahe Community and spend a leisurely afternoon there as the locals do.

★ Have Some Down-to-Earth Experiences in Xiaojiahe Community

First, you will have lunch at your own cost and eat like locals. Sichuan Cuisine at Yongle Restaurant, Xiaojiahe Middle Street, is a great choice. Since 1985 when it’s established, it has never failed to provide quality dishes, warm service, and reasonable prices, which make it popular among both locals and tourists and recently recommended by Michelin Guide. The Kung Pao Chicken on the menu, fascinating for both its appearance and taste, is a must-order. Sichuan cuisine is one of the Eight Great Chinese Cuisines and has a long story to tell. While at Yongle, you get to dive into it through a sensation of flavors it has to offer. The restaurant is so popular, and you may need to wait to get a table. If you cannot wait, the guide will give you some other recommendations according to your preference.

Average cost per person: CNY60 / USD8

Then, visit a vegetable market. The market is visited by the locals every day, to shop for vegetables, meat, seafood, seasonings, fruit and more needed for cooking meals. It’s possible for you to meet some never seen before. With the assistance of the guide, you could ask the price and have a better understanding of the price level in China.

Next, you will walk for about 15 minutes to Xiaojia River bank to experience slow-paced life. Locals gather there playing mahjong or cards, drinking tea or just chatting with each other. What a life of Chengdu people! You may join them to have fun. As a special treat, we will serve you a cup of coffee in the traditional tea bowl with a cover. Sip it slowly, as the locals enjoy their tea, and allow yourself to be captivated by the serene atmosphere. This spot is not only ideal for gaining insights into the authentic life of the locals, but is also an unmissable highlight for those planning a China tour for seniors specifically.

Actually, Chengdu is way more than merely giant pandas and chill lifestyle. This city will also mesmerize you with its history-and-mystery-steeped vibe. It’s largely because of the lost ancient Shu Civilization that flourished 4,000 years ago on this land - though its existence has been proved by the relics it left at the Sanxingdui archeological site, there are still a number of mysteries to be solved. Take how the Shu people cast such bronzeware as the intricate Turtleback-Shaped Bronze Grid for example. Normally, bronze in its molten status would harden before they are sculptured, but it posed no difficulty for the Shu people, who settled the problem by adding phosphorus to the metal, which could delay it from cooling. Thing is, how did they manage to extract the chemical? Even scientists cannot answer. Moreover, there is a wheel-like unearthing adding to the mystery, which resembles the image in an ancient Egyptian pictograph. Is there a connection? Let’s look forward to a world-shaking find.

At the end of the day, the guide will transfer you back to the hotel.

The car is brand new. V rented it for two days: one day for a 10-hour tour in Hong Kong, and one day to take us to Shenzhen to visit and then return us to Hong Kong later that evening. NOT BAD.

For our 25th anniversary, my wife and I booked this Sichuan loop. Our guide Wang picked us up with hot tea, small start to a big adventure. Wolong's pandas were incredible, but the real magic began climbing toward Mount Siguniang. Snow peaks, empty valleys, Wang knowing every photo spot. At 4,700 meters near Litang, my wife felt dizzy. Wang had oxygen ready, made us rest. "No rush," he said. Twenty minutes later, we were walking among yaks on the roof of the world. Yading was worth every bumpy mile. Three holy mountains, turquoise lakes, prayer flags in the wind. Eight days, four thousand meters, one unforgettable anniversary.

I booked this 10-day trip for my parents' 30th anniversary. Dad's 62, mom's not a strong traveler, I was nervous. But Wandrift made everything smooth. our guide Tenzin met us at Lijiang airport with a warm smile and white hada scarves. First few days were gentle wandering Old Town, watching Naxi musicians perform. Mom loved the slow pace. Then came the drive to Shangri-La. Winding ountain roads. Mom started looking pale halfway through. Tenzin noticed immediately. He had the driver pull over at a scenic spot, gave mom some local herbal balm, and let her rest for 20 minutes. "No rush," he said. "The mountains will wait." That small kindness changed everything. We made it to Shangri-La. Mom recovered at the hotel while Tenzin took dad and me to visit a local family. Drank butter tea, learned about their daily life. Next day at Songzanlin Monastery, mom was back to her usual self, snapping photos and asking questions. Other highlights: hiking through Pudacuo's meadows, spotting yaks for the first time, the prayer flags fluttering in the wind. But what I'll remember most is that moment on the mountain road~a guide who cared more about my mom's comfort than keeping schedule. For anyone traveling with older parents in Yunnan, this tour is it.

My friend and I booked this 5days trip for a quick getaway. Zhangjiajie's sandstone pillars looked like something from another planet. Our guide Liu timed the Bailong Elevator perfectly, no lines, just mist rising around us like entering Pandora. At Tianmen Mountain, I froze at the glass walkway. My friend had to drag me across while Liu pretended not to watch. Furong Ancient Town surprised us. The waterfall flowing right through town at night, lights reflecting on water, we just sat there with noodles, saying nothing. Fenghuang felt like stepping back in time. Liu arranged a boat ride at dusk. Our rower sang local songs, lights coming on along the stilted houses. Magic. For a short China trip hitting big sights, this works perfectly.

This hotel was such a nice upgrade on my trip through Xinjiang, Gansu and Ningxia. I was really surprised—China’s desert hotels are just as good as the ones in Morocco!Too bad we only had 2 days in Ningxia. The place is super nice, and all three of us were blown away. They have stargazing sessions and sand dune activities too.And the price here is even cheaper than on Ctrip. I totally recommend it!

As retirees living in Thailand, we usually prefer slower travel, but this 8-day Chengdu, Chongqing, and Zhangjiajie tour struck the perfect balance. Watching giant pandas at their morning feeding at the world’s largest breeding base was pure magic. Our guide, Helen, knew exactly when to arrive to avoid the crowds, her attention to detail was impeccable throughout. In Chongqing, Helen helped us navigate the dizzying levels of Hongya Cave at dusk; watching it transform into a real-life Spirited Away scene along the Jialing River was unforgettable. She even taught us to use Alipay and DiDi=we felt like locals! The Wulong karst bridges left us speechless. But Zhangjiajie? Surreal. Riding the world's tallest outdoor elevator up into those misty quartz peaks felt like entering Pandora. Helen arranged a morning hike along Gold Whip Streat, just us, bird songs, and towering cliffs. Between cities, we experienced China's high speed rail, smooth, punctual, and hitting 300 km each hours. We also tried food delivery apps and bike-sharing with Helen's guidance. Four modern technologies, one exceptional guide. Deeply grateful.

we booked this 11-day trip for our first China visit. From Beijing's grandeur to Shanghai's skyline, every stop impressed. In Beijing, our guide Lucy took us to the Great Wall early, just us and misty mountains. She knew exactly where to stand for photos without crowds. The Forbidden City felt endless in the best way. Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors left us speechless. Lisa arranged a warrior-making workshop where we both failed hilariously at clay molding. That lopsided soldier now sits on our shelf. zhangjiawei stunned us most. Glass bridge had my husband gripping the railing while I laughed. Our guide Michael noticed my fear of heights and quietly suggested the forest path instead, shanghai's Huangpu cruise at night was pure magic. Different cities, different guides, all wonderful. For couples wanting hassle-free China, this tour delivers.
