n Farmers' Market

Going shopping in the farmers' market is one of the main parts of local people's daily life. In farmers' market, you will see rows of stalls where the residences buy vegetables, meat, fruits, aquatic products, grain and oil, condiments, local specialties and so on. The goods there are fresh, the variety is numerous and the quality can be guaranteed. Usually, the price is lower than that in the large supermarkets.

n Wonton

Wonton is somehow like dumpling, also made of flour wrapper with fillings. But the wrapper is thinner and in square shape with a length of about 6 centimeters (2.3 inches) or isosceles trapezoid. The most basic fillings are pork and scallion. In recent decades, the fillings become more abundant which cover various pickles, fresh meat and vegetables and some dry goods like beacon, beef, snow peas, hami melon, mushroom, salted fish and dried radish. To make wonton remain intact after being boiled, most filling needs to be chopped except fresh shrimps. As for the appearance, some look like a shoe-shaped gold ingot, some like a pillow and some like a canopy. After being cooked, the wrapper almost turns to be transparent. In general, it is served with soup. And the soup is very important for wonton which would influence its taste directly and obviously. Usually, the soup consists of nori, scallion, dried small shrimps, sesame oil, coriander and other condiments.

n No commission-based shopping stops! More time will be spent on attractions and you will enjoy a pure sightseeing tour.

n No optional tours! Optional tour is just a tourist trap and will always cost you more with a high markup on price.

Shanghai Family Visit & Cooking Class

In the morning, your private guide will meet you at your hotel lobby booked by yourself. As for the time, he or she will discuss with you one day before. After meeting each other, this Shanghai cooking class tour to experience the daily life of the local people will start. First, the guide will accompany you to take the public transportation to Caoyang New Village Community. This is a large residential quarter accommodating more than 100 thousand residences. After arrival, visit the village's history museum, which records its past stories. Afterwards, follow the guide to have a stroll in the community and learn the locals' life. We will go inside a family there for a visit, to know their daily lives in very detail. The host will also show you around a nearby farmers' market, where the locals go every day for vegetable, meat, fruits and seasonings, etc. After returning to his or her house, the host will prepare a delicious home-cooked lunch for you. If you are interested in cooking, the host will be glad to teach you. Wonton, a representative snack in southern China and easy to learn, is a nice pick. The host will prepare the necessary ingredients. Just follow the host to make some and then enjoy eating. If you are interested in other dishes, the host will be glad to teach you 1-2 more.

We had an incredible time exploring Dali with Wandrift China Tour. The ancient towns, peaceful Erhai Lake and stunning snow-capped Cangshan Mountain took our breath away. Dali’s slow lifestyle, fresh air and unique local culture are absolutely charming. Every arrangement was well-organized, and our guide was friendly, professional and thoughtful. Thank you so much to Wandrift China Tour for creating such a wonderful and memorable Dali journey for our family. We truly enjoyed every moment.

The car is brand new. V rented it for two days: one day for a 10-hour tour in Hong Kong, and one day to take us to Shenzhen to visit and then return us to Hong Kong later that evening. NOT BAD.

My mom and I took this 5-day Chengdu tour. She's 68 and likes temples, tea, and slow walking. This trip was made for her. First day in Chengdu, our guide Wei took us to a local teahouse where old men played mahjong and parrots whistled. Mom loved it. Next day, Leshan Buddha. The stairs down to its feet are steep, but Wei found us a boat instead. Seeing the 71-meter giant from the river, mom just kept saying "wow." Emei Mountain was the highlight. We stayed overnight at a temple near the summit. Monks chanting at dawn, mist rolling through ancient pines. Mom cried a little. "My father told me about this place when I was a little girl," she said. Wei carried our bags the whole way. Small thing, meant everything. For anyone traveling with older parents in Sichuan, book this.
