Lijiang to the Tiger Leaping Gorge



In the morning, you will be picked up by your professional guide and driver from the lobby of your hotel at the appointed time. Then a comfortable ride will take you to the Qiaotou Town to start this 2-day hiking tour of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. During the journey, your guide will give you a brief introduction about the Tiger Leaping Gorge lying between the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Haba Snow Mountain. Famed as one of the deepest canyons in China, the gorge attracts lots of hikers every year.

Upon arrival, your guide will accompany you to trek along the mountain road uphill. En route, you can not only see the lofty mountains and high ranges covered with lush verdant trees, but also have a panoramic view of the spectacular and precipitous Tiger Leaping Gorge. After 2.5 hours' hiking, you will arrive at a local Naxi family. Located on the hillside, it is a good place to take a break.

After having lunch with the Naxi family, we will continue the Lijiang 2 days tour to the Tea Horse Guesthouse, where we will stay tonight. During the next 4-hour hiking, you will be guided to pass through the 28 bends first. It would be a challenge to trek through because the mountain road of this section is very narrow and steep. Then we will pass by the upper section of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. After arriving at the summit, we will walk along a gentle path to the Tea Horse Guesthouse. Your guide will help you check in the hostel and then enjoy your dinner.

After checking out the hotel in the morning, we will continue the private Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking tour. We will pass by the middle section of the Tiger Leaping Gorge and then arrive at the Halfway Guesthouse after 3 hours. The path between the two hostels is relatively gentle so that you can pay more attention to the enchanting scenery and hear the roaring river slapping against both sides of the gorge on the way.

After having lunch at the Halfway Guesthouse, we will go on to trek for another 1.5 hours or so downhill to the Tina's Guesthouse. Along the way, we will go through some forests and villages and see streams and waterfalls shaded by the unknown beautiful flowers and plants. We will get on the highway from the Tina's Guesthouse and drive back to the Qiaotou Town.

Your 2 days Lijiang trip will draw to an end here. Then you will be escorted back to your hotel in downtown Lijiang. Hope you have had a nice trip and we are looking forward to serving you again!

Known as one of the “Top Ten Classic Hiking Routes in the World”, Tiger Leaping Gorge beckons adventure lovers at home and abroad. Spend 2 days to reap your travel joys in this China’s deepest gorge. On the first morning, meet the driver and guide at your hotel in Lijiang, and then a comfortable private car ride will take you to Qiaotou Town, where our hiking journey will officially begin. Make our way up the narrow trails in the towering and steep mountains and expect the panoramic view of the gorge gradually revealed. Around noon we will arrive at a local Naxi home, where we will enjoy our lunch and take a short break. Then trek through the precipitous 28 bends and the upper section of the gorge, and top the day off at the Tea Horse Guesthouse. The next day, we will conquer the relatively gentle middle section accompanied by thunderous cries of waters running through the gorge before lunch, and then through picturesque forests and villages back to Qiaotou Town. I booked this 10-day trip for my parents' 30th anniversary. Dad's 62, mom's not a strong traveler, I was nervous. But Wandrift made everything smooth. our guide Tenzin met us at Lijiang airport with a warm smile and white hada scarves. First few days were gentle wandering Old Town, watching Naxi musicians perform. Mom loved the slow pace. Then came the drive to Shangri-La. Winding ountain roads. Mom started looking pale halfway through. Tenzin noticed immediately. He had the driver pull over at a scenic spot, gave mom some local herbal balm, and let her rest for 20 minutes. "No rush," he said. "The mountains will wait." That small kindness changed everything. We made it to Shangri-La. Mom recovered at the hotel while Tenzin took dad and me to visit a local family. Drank butter tea, learned about their daily life. Next day at Songzanlin Monastery, mom was back to her usual self, snapping photos and asking questions. Other highlights: hiking through Pudacuo's meadows, spotting yaks for the first time, the prayer flags fluttering in the wind. 5 Days to Zhangjiajie, Furong & Fenghuang

My friend and I booked this 5days trip for a quick getaway. Zhangjiajie's sandstone pillars looked like something from another planet. Our guide Liu timed the Bailong Elevator perfectly, no lines, just mist rising around us like entering Pandora. At Tianmen Mountain, I froze at the glass walkway. My friend had to drag me across while Liu pretended not to watch. Furong Ancient Town surprised us. The waterfall flowing right through town at night, lights reflecting on water, we just sat there with noodles, saying nothing. Fenghuang felt like stepping back in time. Liu arranged a boat ride at dusk. Our rower sang local songs, lights coming on along the stilted houses. Magic. For a short China trip hitting big sights, this works perfectly.

This hotel was such a nice upgrade on my trip through Xinjiang, Gansu and Ningxia. I was really surprised—China’s desert hotels are just as good as the ones in Morocco!Too bad we only had 2 days in Ningxia. The place is super nice, and all three of us were blown away. They have stargazing sessions and sand dune activities too.And the price here is even cheaper than on Ctrip. I totally recommend it!

As retirees living in Thailand, we usually prefer slower travel, but this 8-day Chengdu, Chongqing, and Zhangjiajie tour struck the perfect balance. Watching giant pandas at their morning feeding at the world’s largest breeding base was pure magic. Our guide, Helen, knew exactly when to arrive to avoid the crowds, her attention to detail was impeccable throughout. In Chongqing, Helen helped us navigate the dizzying levels of Hongya Cave at dusk; watching it transform into a real-life Spirited Away scene along the Jialing River was unforgettable. She even taught us to use Alipay and DiDi=we felt like locals! The Wulong karst bridges left us speechless. But Zhangjiajie? Surreal. Riding the world's tallest outdoor elevator up into those misty quartz peaks felt like entering Pandora. Helen arranged a morning hike along Gold Whip Streat, just us, bird songs, and towering cliffs. Between cities, we experienced China's high speed rail, smooth, punctual, and hitting 300 km each hours. We also tried food delivery apps and bike-sharing with Helen's guidance. Four modern technologies, one exceptional guide. Deeply grateful.
